Runners (all endurance athletes) are a family. We understand each other when most people just don’t get it. We understand why we run with a little pain… We train in elements not know what race day will bring… We wake up at crazy hours to drive incredible distances to run for hours just to prep for a few hours on event day. All that build up leads to an amazing excitement of the event that can be emotional from the challenge you present yourself in completing this type of event. To couple the emotion of the event in and of itself with the tragedy of the day in Boston is wearing heavily on my heart.
