Every day we like to shine a spotlight on people doing amazing work- both with Charity Miles and without. Today we’re featuring Nicole Carbon the outreach and family services manager at Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills, a casual runner who accomplished the goal of completing a marathon and several half marathons; Bikram Yoga practicer, food and wine lover, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle .
What is your greatest accomplishment as of late?
My latest accomplishment was completing a half marathon and feeling seven years after running a full marathon.
How did you achieve it?
I achieved the completion of the half marathon by preparing for it over the course of several months doing long runs on the weekends and short runs in the morning before work.
What motivates you to make the world a better place?
My biggest motivator to make the world a better place is gratitude for what I have. I practice acts of being kind and mindful of people’s situations on a daily basis. I give back in ways I can through small donations, shopping at our ReStore, and through programs such as Charity Miles.
What do you do to stay healthy and fit?
I practice Bikram yoga several times a week, run a few days a week, walk and take stairs whenever I can.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Trust your gut.
What is your favorite aspect of using Charity Miles?
My favorite aspect of Charity Miles is being able to give back in a way I love, through fitness. I also love the mileage tracker feature.
Who do you exercise for, and why?
I exercise for Habitat for Humanity, of course! I work at the NC Sandhills affiliate and do what I can in the community to gain awareness of Habitat for Humanity.
